1. Scope of This Policy
This policy explains how vGram ("we", "us") handles information when you use vgram.net. It covers the website, the download tool, and our contact form. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.
vGram is operated as an independent web service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram, Meta Platforms, or TikTok.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you actively provide
- Media URLs. The Instagram or TikTok link you paste is sent to our servers so the media can be retrieved. The URL is used to complete your request and is not stored against your identity.
- Contact form details. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address, phone number, message, and optional satisfaction rating you submit. We use these solely to reply.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical request data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring page, and timestamps.
- Diagnostic telemetry — if a download fails, our software records the error, the page it happened on, and your user agent so we can fix it. This is capped per visit and rotated automatically.
- Local browser storage — your theme preference and cookie-consent choice are stored on your own device using
localStorage. They never leave your browser.
3. What We Never Collect
We do not ask for or receive your Instagram or TikTok username, password, or session token. vGram has no login of its own. We do not retain copies of the media you download, we do not build advertising profiles from your download activity, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
4. How We Use Information
- To deliver the service — retrieving and preparing the media you requested.
- To keep the service available — rate limiting, abuse prevention, and blocking automated scraping.
- To fix problems — diagnosing failures using aggregated error telemetry.
- To respond to you — replying to contact form submissions.
- To fund the service — displaying advertising, as described below.
Our legal bases under GDPR are legitimate interest (security, abuse prevention, service improvement), consent (advertising and analytics cookies), and contract performance (delivering the download you requested).
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. We group ours as follows:
| Cookie / storage | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
vgram_csrf | vGram | Security token that proves a contact form submission came from our own page | 2 hours |
vgram_cookie_consent_v1 | vGram (localStorage) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies | Until cleared |
vgram-theme | vGram (localStorage) | Remembers your light/dark theme choice | Until cleared |
__gads, __gpi, IDE | Google AdSense / DoubleClick | Ad selection, frequency capping, and measurement | Up to 13 months |
_ga, _gid | Google Analytics (via Tag Manager) | Aggregated audience measurement | Up to 2 years |
Only the CSRF token and your stored preferences are strictly necessary. Advertising and analytics cookies load only after you accept them in our consent banner. Choosing "Reject" prevents personalised advertising cookies from being set.
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
vGram is free to use and is funded by advertising. We work with Google and its partners to display ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or the NAI opt-out page.
- Google's own handling of data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms site.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we request consent for personalised advertising before those cookies are set, in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy.
7. Analytics
We use Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager to understand aggregate usage — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and where errors cluster. Analytics data is processed in aggregate and is not used to identify individuals. It loads only after you accept non-essential cookies.
8. Data Retention
- Submitted URLs — held only for the lifetime of the request, then discarded.
- Downloaded media — not retained after the transfer completes.
- Error telemetry — automatically deleted after 14 days.
- Rate-limit records — a hashed identifier held for a short sliding window, then purged.
- Contact messages — kept as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. vGram does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
To exercise any right, contact us through the contact page. You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which makes the consent banner appear again.
10. Children's Privacy
vGram is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes and Contact
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
Questions about this policy can be sent through our Contact page.
